Either way you don't lose. Actively managed mutual funds are a great way to diversify portfolios. So are index-tracking exchange traded funds. But there's one key advantage that ETFs offer: low portfolio turnover. Turnover is the percentage of a fund's underlying holdings that's bought or sold over a one-year period.
